Re: Recharging Batteries---so charge recognizes batteries!!
Yes Scotty it is wrong. Every time you tell a poster to check the individual battery voltage on a battery bank you prove it.

Re: Recharging Batteries---so charge recognizes batteries!!
8V batteries are a different breed of cat.
With 8V batteries, you probably have a 48V pack and not all 48V (or any other voltage) chargers have relays that can be by-passed so the charger will come on when the pack voltage is too low to close the relay and start the charge process. If you happen to have an 8V charger, charge the batteries individually. If you have a 12V charger, add a 100W 120V light bulb in series with the 8V battery and charger. That will limit the max amps to less than 12.5A, which is a safe charging current. However, don't leave it on for more than an hour or so, or the on-charge voltage will climb above the max on-charge voltage for an 8V battery. Better yet, monitor the on-charge voltage and shut it off when, or before, the on-charge voltage gets to 10V. (The max on-charge is about 2.79V per cell or about 11.2 for an 8V) |

Re: Recharging Batteries---so charge recognizes batteries!!
I have a DS 0414-378577 which I believe has 6 8V batteries A common charger only has either 6V or 12V options. Can I get a 8V charger to boost the charge enough to kick in the 48V charger?

However, I'm not familiar with Club Car charging system, so I don't know if they won't turn on if the pack voltage is too low like EZGO chargers. |

I realize this may be late for this chain of comments, but just stumbled onto it.
Last night looking for similar info I ran onto the following thread which details how to trick a Club Car system into charging when pack is to low to be recognized by the charger. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...s-charger.html |
