Re: Electrical black out?
Austin, It is the only fuse in the rack. 20 amp and I have blown 3 so far but can't find the cause. I was thinking it had something to do with throwing it from F to R before stopping. But, yesterday I had some time and repeatedly tried F to R without complete stops and the fuse is still good.
I need any help on where to start as everything except lights run thru this one 20 amp fuse? Is this orig? Seems it has blown at low speed, coasting, or stop? |

Re: Electrical black out?
Some where a power source is hitting the frame. (grounding out) I used to have this problem when I pulled my dash out the back of the kew switch would hit the frame around the dash, which usually blew my fuse. Your problem could be anywhere but I'd start from the back and follow all the way to the back. I wouldn't pay attention to the wires in the wire loom, just the iopen ones. If you don't find it there, then look at the loom. Hope this helps ya!

Re: Electrical black out?
Austin, that makes sense...I have been test driving the heck out of it and trying to blow the fuse so I can say what is doing it but no luck. So not related to F/R shifting while rolling anymore? I'll just have to find it eventually.
One fuse? That means everthing uner the seat and dash is all on one fuse except the headlights...... |

Re: Electrical black out?
Yeah It shouldn't have anything to do with the sifter unless its one of the wires that is only powered when the shifter is in a certain position and that specific wire is grounding out only when it is shifted in that position. Also, you are correct, one fuse.

Re: Electrical black out?
Well, yesterday afternoon I serviced the motor and readjusted the throttle tensioner on the cam in the stupid black box. motor is running better than ever.. I put synthetic in it. Why they had to cram everything into one little box with all that wasted room is beyond me. Anyway blew the fuse again so started pulling wire out of there to get a look at everything and now it won't start so I suspect the exciter feed or such but, it was getting dark by then . I will get to it when I get home today....

Re: Electrical black out?
I found the 'blackout' source today...Someone had a hot wire coming off of the ignition switch poked out of the glove box and originally run to the caution light mounted on the old roof. Well it wasn't working and one of the first things I did was to put a used new style roof and front supports on it. I had taken the old feed wire and wadded it up in the glovebox, still hot, and every so often she would hit the ground and blow the fuse...Today I was digging in the glove box when I saw it arc. LOL. I am my own worst enemy. Good thing I found it , only bought a 6 pk of fuses, just one left.
