Talking 1994 Yamaha g9ak-1 mile per hour

I bought a fixer upper. Listed below is what I have done.

New Battery.
No ignition-short term I have attached these wires direct.
New plug.
Reinstalled ignition coil and grounded it to negitivepost on battery.

Problem is that I have gotten it it start but it goes about a half mile per hour when fully pushing the accelator. Seem to grab and release in forward and reverse maybe because it is going so slow. The engine definitely is not reving
when I push on the excellerator.

id check to be sure you have the right spark plug, will probly be more then just that but i know from mine that was the main issue. A lot of people seem to just grab a car spark plug and throw it in there thinking it will work

This may take some time so if you have a jack, block it up and hook up a battery charger.
Pull the plug ground it and check for spark.
If plug comes out dry, pull the fuel line for fuel.
check for compression.
