Default Advice Needed for Resistor Cart Motor Compatibility

I have an 86 Ez Go resistor cart that really needs an upgrade for torque. I saw a motor that is made for Ez Go that is 12 hp. I would like to buy this for my cart, is it completely compatible? All the information it gives me is that it is 19 spline.

I contacted the company and they told me it was compatible but I wouldn't see much increase because it is designed for controller carts, but everything I have read on here says that there is no difference in controller and resistor carts at WOT. So in my mind I really don't see how a 12 hp motor won't show a dramatic increase in power over that old 2 hp stock motor.

Thanks for any input, Josh

The manufacture knows their product. 6 XS the Hp is going to draw a lot more amperage to run resulting in an overload on the resistor coils in my opinion.

So would you recommend just getting my old 2 hp rewound or still look for another motor with not quite so much hp?

I'm really in need of another motor I'm almost positive because I have taken all the batteries out, cleaned all connections, and load tested the batteries.

I can't go up a very gradual incline without almost bogging down completely. The rv park around my house that I drive around is much less hilly than a golf course, so I really can't figure out what it could be besides the motor. Once I get back to level ground this thing takes off and I have to slow myself down.

Thanks for any advice guys, Josh
