G9 Governor
I've been cranking the governor nut in, it's almost an inch tighter than it was when I started. Makes a noticeable difference in speed starting off then seems to level of. Am I doing any damage to the engine with the accelerator floored?
Thanks JP |

Re: G9 Governor
Probably not yet. Alot of us have by-passed the gov. and connected the throttle cable directly to the carb. Now we have to worry about high RPM, and destroying the motor.

Re: G9 Governor
Run Full Synthetic-Oil. I think stock is 10w30,or even go up to 10w40,it makes a splash-lube engine a lot more durable. With the RPM increase, the extra protection is worth the few extra bucks.Hope this helps.

Re: G9 Governor
Thanks guys,
I think I'll back the nut off a couple turns on the governor and change oil to the synthetic stuff. Don't think I need the extra rpms by going directly to the carb, the engine was supposedly overhauled before I bought it and I don't really need to get anywhere fast, I'm old and slow anyway! Thanks again JP |
