0-5v throttle tested
I am having trouble with my throttle
I have a 0-5v throttle. I have tested it and when fully depressed it reads 5.7v. 0v when not touching the pedal. This is connected to a 1244 Curtis controller. Controller is set to type 2 which is 0-5v. I read in the manual that over 5.5v will cause a fault??? When I was testing it does not smoothly go to 5v. It's almost instant. Does this mean I need a new ITS? This is on what used to be a Titan UTV but I have rebuilt everything. I am stuck....please help. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk |

Have you opened the throttle box to insure it is 100% dry and properly adjusted? You may be splitting hairs 5.5 vs 5.7 but a jumpy response could be a moisture induced problem?

I got it to work. Well sort of. I get a throttle fault on the controller when I turn it on. On jack stands it moves the wheels. Full speed in reverse and half speed going forward. If I put it in 4x4 the other solenoid kicks in but then nothing happens. No forward nor reverse action.
I have done the following: New Batteries New Throttle pedal 0-5v Had both controllers repaired New brake master cylinder New solenoids New switches (FNR & 2wd/4wd) New LED lights New battery meter New key switch I may have something cross wired but I would not think so since it moves the motor. It would really help if I knew where the wires on the pedal are supposed to go. I know that the red is my power in and the green is my ground. I believe that the yellow goes back to my controller throttle input 0-5v. Blue goes somewhere...any of that right??? Since I am new I cannot post a picture. Ok I did some more research and I plan to take the following steps. Let me know if you think it's a good plan
Put the cart in 2wd and figure out the rear motor first. After it's running mimic that to the front. (4x4) Check the batteries. They are new but who knows. Replace the ITS. A typical EzGo ITS throttle sensor does not produce a 0-5V output. Some Chinese manufacturers use the EzGo ITS in combination with a separate small PC board containing a circuit that converts the native ITS signal to 0-5V to make it compatible with a Type 2 throttle. In later versions that PC board is actually built into the ITS module and is connected to the harness via a 3-pin Molex type connector also built into the ITS module. Can you determine whether you have either of the two type modules described above?

In the pedal box it has a 3 pin connector built into the ITS. Then it has also a micro switch.

OK then, you have the later version of the Chinese ITS. There are three wires connected to the ITS module:
Power into ITS sensor (36 or 48V) Signal out of ITS to controller (0-5V) GND (0V) I don't recall the color codes of the wires but they would typically be red for power, green for signal and black for GND with the center pin being signal. Does this correspond to what you have? If you connect the black lead of your voltmeter to B- you should be able to use the red lead to verify the three voltages indicated above. By the way, the micro switch is the Pedal switch and as I recall it applies the power to the ITS so you would have to depress the pedal enough to click the micro switch to measure the voltages. DO NOT work on the throttle with the rear wheels on the ground just in case you might get sudden acceleration. |

Thanks for the help. It's running!! I am good go to go. 2x4 and 4x4 work now. Just have to replaced a rear axle oil seal.

New problem: Jumpy starts....
Ok so I have the seal replaced. I had full power going in reverse and half power going forward. I swapped the wires on the motor to fix that. When the cart is in what I am calling "reverse or half power mode" its really jumpy then smooths out. Didn't matter which way it was going as I had to switch the wires. Did some research and I have brand new batteries fully charged and 2 new solenoids. What could be causing the issue? I can't remember if it happens going forward but it seems worse half power mode. Can I get rid of the "half power reverse" mode? I don't really need it. Here are some pictures of my rebuild for you all. Thanks again for all the help. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk |
