Default Opinion needed. Whats it worth?

Im a Noobie to carts and have never owned one yet. Going to look at some club cars tomorrow morning. 2003 models, 48 volt, that just came off lease from a golf course. Guy has a handful to choose from. Comes with Charger, extended top. Have original Trojan batteries from 2003. No guarantee excpet that the cart will do 18 holes of golf.

What is a good deal on these?
Whats is a fair price?
What is not a bad deal?

Im worried that Im gonna pay $1500 (what he states is firm price) and then 3 months have a $600-1000 bill for new batteries.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Scott

Where are you located?
Extended top? or a cover for golf clubs?

I think that would be a average price for one that would need batteries soon.

I dont know the difference I was just told "Extended top" It looks like a regualr top to me and the cart is not equpieed with a back seat.

In my opinion...

$1000.00 is a Good price
$13-1500 is a Fair price
anything over that, better have new batteries!

As long as the batteries were maintained properly,
you could get 2 to 3 years more from them!

an extended top runs to almost the length of the cart
(From the windsheild to the rear bumper. @ 80")
regular tops stop about 4" from the front seat!

a couple of suggestions...

If they all look the same... drive as many as possible
from a total stop, floor it, and see which one has the most torque,
(the fastest response from 0 to full throttle)
that may be the one with the best batteries!

Have them plug the chargers in, and see which carts charger drops down to
the lowest amps, the fastest... (after you've riden them)
again... that may be the one with the best batteries!

But as craig tn said... you'll have to expect to replace the batteries sometime soon!

When I got my 98 48V the batteries were going on 8 years old,
and they were fine!... but I replaced them... just because!

Good luck on your search!

$1,500.00 is a very ggod price for a 2003 model in fair condition with 5 year old batteries. Count on it - you will be buying batteries in the near future. Average lifespan for 8 volts is 6 years. Trojan T-875's are around $115.00 each, but with the price of lead, they tend to increase in price monthly...
