Default G2 Yamaha w/G1 Driven Clutch?

While digging through the 1990 G2 I picked up, I realised that it has a G1 driven clutch for some reason.

It seems to work fine but since I am doing a lift and other mods I want to know if there is a benefit to replacing it?

I'm pretty sure they are nearly the same. If it isn't worn out I wouldn't go through the trouble of changing it just yet. Unless you are having problems with the clutch slipping or low speed.

The main difference is the G1 has sliders and ramps for both forward and reverse rotation. That clutch will work fine in a G2. It does, however, look awfully corroded. As long as the sheaves are nice and smooth and true and there is no binding on the spring it should be ok. I had a Plowman's performance G1 secondary on my big block cart for forever, worked great.

I appreciate the intel. I guess I will run it for now and if it gives me any issues, I will visit Plowman's website.
