36v always full throttle
1984 36v original cart. Stuck in full speed. When I put it in forward or reverse it is in 100% full speed.
I changed the f&r switch tonight with no change. Any other ideas what would cause this? Thinking about doing a full change out to solid state controllers to get rid of the resistors but, looking for a smoking gun to get me through the summer. Any help is appreciated. |

Re: 36v always full throttle
Please pick one. Or identify which scenario is closest. Is it always full speed....
even if the pedal is not being pushed down? Is it no speed until the pedal is all the way down? Is it off until you hit the pedal, then full speed at any pedal position? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: 36v always full throttle
It is 100% all the time, not touching the pedal. Putting it in neutral is the only way to make it not go. Pushing the pedal does not change a thing. Forward and reverse it does this.

Re: 36v always full throttle
Is it a multi solenoid resistor set up or a single solenoid with resistors?
If it’s a multi solenoid then one of the solenoids is most likely stuck “on”. If it’s a single solenoid cart then the potentiometer (the unit that the pedal moves) is lost likely welded in one spot. It’s ancient technology. Usually when the solenoid goes bad and sticks on, the cart does the same thing but at the slowest speed. Look under the cart when you step on the pedal, it should rotate the potentiometer and as it begins to rotate across the connections that change the speed it also releases a micro switch that turns the solenoid on. That micro switch could be bad. But even then it should be stuck on the slowest speed. Did you buy it like this? If so it might be wired backwards. Let me know what you find and we’ll get this figured out for ya. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: 36v always full throttle
It was working fine, bought it two years ago. It has the silver throttle control, not the vglide, with the switches inside. I can hear all of them click. Multiple resistors.

Awesome. Do you know how to test for continuity with an electrical meter? Your problem should be one of two things. Either the solenoid without a resistor (the one with the cooked white wire) is stuck “closed” or the micro switch in the pot box controller that sends the signal to that solenoid is stuck “closed”. When I say closed, I mean the leads are allowing current to travel across them.

Re: 36v always full throttle
Do I see a burnt/broken resistor coil? Those coils should not be touching each other.
