Speed sensor bad?

I have a 2009 Club Car XRT 850 electric that I just changed the batteries on. It was fine for a week. Now it’ll go for a while, then it drops the speed down to just a few mph. I’m assuming the timing of the battery replacement is just coincidental. I tried the “speed sensor test” and pushed the cart with the switch on run. It beeps and pushes forward pretty easily with little or maybe no resistance. How much resistance should there be? I’m guessing it’s the speed sensor, but I hoped one of you with more experience would give me your opinion.

And if it is the speed sensor, any recommendations on where to get a replacement online? I’m pretty sure I have the ADC motor, but I couldn’t find any markings on the motor.

Same thing happened to me last month. Cart speed dropped to limp mode (about 8 mph.) Replaced speed sensor. Jacked up passenger side and removed RR wheel to gain access. 1/2 hour job. Works perfectly now. Site sponsors have them available. Good luck.

Here's a link to a youtube "DIY" tutorial on the speed sensor replacement. He goes in from the top with the body removed. It's not a difficult job jacking up the passenger side and removing RR wheel to access the speed sensor. Be sure to safely jack the cart and always a good idea to place in "tow" position.

Whatever you do, make sure you buy an OEM sensor!

The cheap ones are just that, cheap. Many times they are bad right out of the box.
