Motor removal from a Precedent
Can it be done without pulling the rear body off, or is it just better to bite the bullet and pull the body?

Re: Motor removal from a Precedent
I recently changed mine out and it was pretty easy from the rear access panel. Hardest part was taking the back seat of the cart. If you don't have a back seat in the way should be pretty easy.

Re: Motor removal from a Precedent
Yeah I do have a back seat. I was hopping I could get it from underneath the cart.

Re: Motor removal from a Precedent
My cart is jacked up so I just crawled underneath and removed it. Took 5 minutes.

Re: Motor removal from a Precedent
Depends which year it is. On the early carts the motor was closer to the frame on the right side and you had to drop the axle to remove it.
Much easier to just raise the back end of the cart and go from underneath. Taking the body off is not terribly difficult, but not worth the extra work as it doesn't really gain you anything. Make sure to put the cart in Tow and disconnect the pack negative before working on any motor cables. |

Re: Motor removal from a Precedent
Just jacked mine up and put on jack stands. Chocked the front tires just in case. Tow mode and + and - main cables off. I used the lift to roll the motor onto and lower and raise new back in place. You still have to wiggle it in place, but it sure helps with getting it close. They aren't light. Less than an hr. FYI...sweep area before crawling on ground. Rocks hurt like heck on your back!!!: lol
