Problems identifying my Club Car DS Motor for speed magnet
Hey everyone - new member here(long time lurker). I'm having problems identifying my motor on my 2004 CC DS serial number AQ0407-367799. With everything I've read according to that serial number it tells me I have a regen/IQ motor and my motor has a "flat" speed sensor with a quick connect plug coming off of it - pics attached. I purchased a speed magnet from Revolution Carts and when I popped my rear wheel off to install following instructions from another thread I found a completely different looking speed sensor than any I had seen before. Pics attached include part and model number of the motor if anyone can help me identify if a speed magnet will even work for this machine. My top speed by my self is around 16mph.
Any help is greatly appreciated!! |

That is a motor from a Regen 2 cart. Just like the one on the 1999 cart I had.

No speed magnets for that motor. It’s too old. Not sure exactly which motor should be in your cart, it’s possible that one was swapped in by a previous owner or shop maybe to replace a broken or worn out early IQ motor.
Going faster will involve a new controller as that motor is capable of over 20mph when paired with a 300 or 400A alltrax. |

Thank you all for the information! So you believe this is not the original motor for this cart? If I can throw a controller at it and grab some top end that would be fantastic! I was considering the Plum Quick Bandit upgrade (I'm being frugal as it's my first cart) since I hear of people burning up their stock motors with bigger controllers and stuff - but this motor should be able to handle it?

This is a homemade speed magnet I made for my 99 ds. Just file it to this shape and test until you get it where you want it. It is very soft and easy to file.
