Headlamps melt/burn ?
Any ideas why the inside of these headlights would melt/burn? I replaced with the same lamp number.

Re: Headlamps melt/burn ?
Could be too much voltage getting to the bulb. Check voltage at the pins of the connector and see if it’s up around 16v. If so the bulb will run too hot. This would usually be because of using two batteries in the pack to supply voltage to the lighting system which will cause uneven draw on the pack, as well as higher bulb temperature and premature burnout of the bulbs.
The best solution is to get a voltage reducer that does 48>12v. The draw would then be even across the pack and voltage output to accessories will be a consistent 12v. If the cart already has a reducer the output voltage of that needs to be checked. |

Re: Headlamps melt/burn ?
You were correct it is 15.6v at lamp connect. I know a voltage reducer was installed when I had the cart build, but it must be just running the radio? Do think an upgrade to led light would solve it without having to mess with voltage reducer ?

Re: Headlamps melt/burn ?
I tried replacing the bulbs with LED lights once and the blinkers stopped working. So not sure if that would be a direct replacement?

Re: Headlamps melt/burn ?
Do you have front and rear lights and did you replace all with LED's? Did you check polarity on all bulbs to make sue they were installed correctly? LED's are strange animals (to me) and mess with other stuff I have found.

The kit was installed when I ordered the cart. The front lights and blinkers are halogen and the rear tail lights are LED.

Changed them to Sealight 9004 S1 LED bulbs. The lights are brighter, whiter, use far less battery power and run cool. Definitely get a 48v to 12v voltage reducer in there. LEDs don't like voltages over 15v or so. If the turn signals flicker an electronic flasher will fix that. |
