2000 Club Car - I want more speed
I have a 2000 club car. This the newer body for that year as they switched mid year. I have determined it is a 48V series cart.
I am mechanically inclined, but know nothing about electric carts. I would like to make it to go faster, but don't want to buy a new motor or controller. Are there quicker easier ways of making the cart faster. I have seen posts for a magnet on ebay that will increase the speed if I have the right unit. I have also seen posts about removing wire from the from the selinoid. Just wondering if I am on the right path or should I spend the money on a new motor or controller? Thanks, Brent |

Re: 2000 Club Car - I want more speed
I picked this cart real cheap and it is in excellent condition. I can make 5 to 600 dollars on it easy. Would I be better off to buy an EZGO PDS. I have heard that they are much easier (speed chip) to make faster.
Thanks, Brent |

Re: 2000 Club Car - I want more speed
the "speed" chip on a ezgo is just a plug with jumper wires that come out and go back in,, nothing fancy,,, under $10,,, they are kinda neat that you can unplug it and loan it to a friend and he can't go fast,, and then just plug it in so you can go faster,,, I have plans to extend the wires to a switch in the dash to make this easyer,,,, right now you have to remove the controler cover to get to it.

Re: 2000 Club Car - I want more speed
I just replaced my 2000 CC DS motor with a Bandit from Plum Quick. Previous top speed was 13 mph slowed miserably up hills. New motor with 2 ga cables now hits 19 mph and 14-15 up same hills. 10" wheels with stock size tires.
We'll pleased. Curtis |

Re: 2000 Club Car - I want more speed
You're on the wrong path, sort of. In a series cart, amps = torque and voltage = speed. The only way you're gonna gain speed is go more voltage or get a speed motor like Csimpler has done. Putting on a higher amp controller is just going to gain you torque, maybe 1 MPH if you're lucky.
