Default 91 ezgo electrical arcing

I have been using my Cart all hunting season without incident until a couple days ago. The studs on the board and the wiper are arcing. I jacked it up and with no load it does not arc but if i put it on the ground and accelerate it does not move and then arcs when i get to the last stud on the board. Could this be a motor problem, internal short under a load.or just the wiper and studs going bad. i filed the studs they are pitted especially the last one.

Any help would be appreciated

Larry

Welcome to BGW.

I'm not familiar with resistor carts, so I don't have much to offer about the wiper arm and contacts arcing, but an open R-3 in the resistor box might cause the symptoms you have.

Once those studs get hot enough to pit the copper, my guess is they've also melted the phenolic board as well causing the stud to "sink." Creating more arcing, creating more heat, creating more melting,...........

Check the spring tension on the wiper arm contact as well....

Good luck.
