that's great prep work. looks better than new, and will last more years than the original 27. what color will you go with?

Pulled out the rear/motor assembly to check things out. The old drum brakes did not work very well so removing them proved to be challenging. On one side the threads on the castle nut were striped and needed to chase the threads on the axle to get the new one on.
The other drum just would not come off......beat it with a dead blow....heat and beat, ha ha......so took a torch to it and cut the frigging thing off. Compared prices on replacing the drum to purchasing a set of cable operated disc brakes.....installed the later since they were on sale on one of the sponsor's site |
