was running great then suddenly lost power
Hi guys,
Was hoping someone could help diagnose my problem with my '97 EZGO 36volt. I was cruising along just fine at night and suddenly lost lighting and power. There are no signs of any power to anything except the meter. No reverse alarm, no lights...nothing! It has a one year old Alltrax controller & brand new Energizer batts (2 weeks since install). There were no unusual sounds or warnings prior to this. Thanks for any help you can offer. Jodi Last edited by sunsetorange; 02-24-2012 at 11:43 PM.. Reason: typo |

Do you mean totally dead? Check electrical connections. If ypu were running your cart during a thunderstorm, your controller could be affected. Finally, check if the fuses are all okay.

Step one: Measure Battery Pack Voltage with a handheld DVM. Measure from "-" terminal on Right-Rear battery to "+" terminal on Right-Front Battery. If it isn't 38.2V or thereabouts, check the five interconnecting cables on batteries. If it is, check cables going to controller and solenoid and the fuses that may or may not exist in those cable connections. |

What kind of cart do you have? Is there a toggle switch, and also is your reed switch still in place? |

Re: was running great then suddenly lost power
Adding to " JohnnieB's " post, two things you must have to diagnose an electric cart are a hydrometer ( specific gravity ) and a DMM ( digital multimeter ). These two items will find out what is wrong with your cart! Neither is expensive, and can be purchased at a hardware or automotive store!

Re: was running great then suddenly lost power
Hey Simple Man, thanks for the info but I was closely examining the batteries today and the driver's side rear battery post, more or less, melted off. I was quite certain the connection was tight but apparently not tight enough.
