Default forward vs reverse. MAJOR difference in 'torque'

Ok...

I have another thread active, because I am unable to attain the speed I should be able to attain when going in forward.

I have an issue that may be related, but i wanted to make a different thread to discuss.

Cart is a 1996 EZGO that has been converted over to a 2004 PDS cart. The controller has the run/tow switch on it. It is 36V.

When I put the cart in 'Forward' and mash the gas, the cart responds relatively slowly, and eventually gets up to speed. Even if I am on gravel, I can not get the tires to 'break loose' when hammering the go pedal when in forward'

When I put the cart in 'Reverse' and mash the gas, the **** tires can break loose from all the torque.

The weather is crappy out, the cart is in storage in the next town over, and I have yet to get over there, get my multimeter out and do any testing. Possibly sunday if the weather gets better.

I am talking about a MAJOR difference in torque. How is this possible? Is this normal? Is it physically possible that the controller/motor is wired 'backwards' and have the reverse and forward circuit swapped around?

Here is a picture of the motor:

The Alltrax controller has a 1/2 speed reverse option. THat may be activated and you may have your F&R wires reversed? Just guessing at how you could have the problem you posted... try this, swap the F1 and F2 motor connections at the controller. They are the two 10g wires on top of the controller furthest to the passenger side. One is black & the other white, just swap them. Don't forget to put the run/tow switch in tow before disconnecting any wires. When you're done Mash the peddle

Does it matter that I think the controller is a Curtis? It has the spot to plug in the 'speed chip.'

Thanks!

You are describing a stock controller. I don't think that is going to run that big motor?

Its painted red, but I dont think it is their 'assasin' motor. It looks different then the pic on the plumquick website.

THANK YOU! Swapping the F1 and F2 wires did it. Also had to swap wires on my f-n-r switch. Now it is calm in reverse but I hit 22mph in forward!! Jesus H its like an entirely new cart!
