Regen brakeing and reverse beeper
My 2008 ezgo 36v PDS regen braking and reverse beeper only work occasionally. The cart runs great, the batts (mid 2008 trojan 105s) show 38v after charge. I only run it slow (5mph speed limit) on weekends in the campground on flat ground and charge it daily. Everything runs and works fine I am just wondering about the regen and beeper. It is lifted and has 23" tires and all 4ga cables. Any thoughts?

Re: Regen brakeing and reverse beeper
Excellent taste in carts.
Intermittent problems are royal pains in the posterior to troubleshoot and the fact that the cart has to be moving for the Regen Braking to exist makes it even worse. Both the beeper and Regen are controlled by the controller and PDS carts don't like to run slow, so the worst case is a bad controller. Or it could be two separate problems. One side of the beeper is always tied to B+ via the small red wire connected to the battery side main terminal of the solenoid. B- is supplied via J1-Pin 10 on the Controller whenever F/R switch is in R (and Run/Tow switch is in Run). When the beeper should be should be sounding, but isn't, measure between B- (on controller or negative terminal on right-rear battery) and J1-Pin 10. Should be zero and then jump to B+ (Battery pack voltage) when F/R switch is moved to N or F. IF you don't get B+ on J1-Pin 10 with F/R in N or F, check for an open between solenoid battery side main terminal and beeper, between beeper and J1-Pin 10, or the beeper itself may be bad. Since the only difference between Regen Braking and normal cart drive, is internal to the controller, the only thing that comes to mind other than a bad controller is that Regen won't occur if the battery pack voltage is too high. I don't know what the voltage is, but it is a "safety" feature to prevent the batteries from being damaged by overcharging during Regen Braking. Does the no regen problem only occur before the cart has been driven around for a while, or does it also occur later in the day after it has been driven a bit. BTW, what PDS mode are you running in? If you haven't already, download the three *.pdf files from this post in the stickies. they are the Owner, Service and Parts manuals for your cart. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html |
