Default Stae of charge meter

1995 Freedom Ezgo, Meter always showed down 5 bars. Ok did as was told earlier, full charge, disconnected + wire(cable) for 5 minutes or more. Hooked back up,turned on key and voila, full bars. Turned off went inside for a few minutes and came back out. Turned on key to take a ride, back down 5 bars again!! Now what? Bad meter? May get a digital meter later but want to make this work for now if possible.

Thanks

What are the batteries actually reading? If the batteries are reading a good charge....could be a bad meter....maybe batteries are not holding a charge......

Total pack voltage is 38.4 after sitting 8 hrs. Batteries are less that 2 months old. Good and strong and last quite a while when riding.

Check the wiring/conections to the meter and also check the voltage at the meter when it is down on the bar graph.

I have the digital from Scotty and it is great. I also have the old bar graph still mounted and it seems the bar graph is way off.

This is why we upgrade
I still have test pics of the full bar graph next to the 37v meter reading.
