Trouble
On my 2006 Club Car Precedent, when I was hooking up a wire to the new battery meter that I installed in dash, I touched both the positve and the key side of the switch. It resulted in sparks. Now the cart won't move. Is there a fuse on these carts? The only reset breaker/fuse that I found was at the battery. It seems to be OK. I have power going to some wires behind the dash, but there is no power going to the key switch. Any ideas? thanks for your help.

I have a 2000 DS which us a series cart so I have no experience, but from a lot of reading this forum if you did not switch run/ tow switch to tow before working on the cart and causing the sparks you probably fried your controller. I am sure others will reply shortly.

I tried resetting the OBC. Did not seem to help. Are controllers expensive? Maybe someone out there has a used one.

Should be a fuse holder close to where the controller is. Small black box that holds a blade style fuse. Bet its blown.

DJ, I was excited to think that it was only a fuse. I found a black holder near the controller. It had two red wires going to it. It contained a 15 amp blade fuse. The condition of the fuse looked good and it had continuity. Any other fuses or ideas to try?

Also, when I push on the pedal, I hear a clicking sound. The cart still seems to charge when I plug it in.

You probably did fry the controller....small sparks tend to do that to the controllers if they are not put in TOW prior to working on them. Have someone that has a shop manual run some diagnostics or get your hands on a shop manual....

Lesson learned. Disconnect the battery pack when doing any wiring on your cart!

Did you check if there was any voltage at that fuse holder? If you shorted the key switch to pack negative, You may have blown the diode before the fuse would react.
If there is voltage at the fuse holder, then the diode is OK, otherwise replace the diode. |

Even if you did smoke your controller you should still have power to the key sw. Put the black meter lead on the battery neg term and the red to the keyswitch if you don't measure 48v start working your way backwards until you find it. You didn't leave your run sw in tow did you? There is a fuse in there somewhere.
