Default backfire

Had to buy new carb due to the accelerator bracket breaking. I installed the new carb and everything is ok until I let off the gas pedal and then accelerate again. At that time I have a backfire through the carb. Any ideas how to stop the backfire?

Double check the throttle linkages.
Make sure they allow the butterfly to close all the way.
Loosen the throttle stop screw and make sure the butterfly completely closes on the carb. Must close all the way.

You didn't give enough information about the cart. What year is it? 2pg, 3pg, or 4 stroke?

The common backfire cause on a 2 stroke is the spring missing from the end of the throttle cable. Its purpose is to allow the microswitch to make contact before the butterfly opens.

The pictures below are for the 2pg 2 stroke engine.

Thanks for all your help. I now understand how this works and is now adjusted correctly and works great! Now I am going to knock on wood (my head) for good luck!
