I'll jump in. I'm not JD but we have similar carts. Mine is getting close to 19mph on flat ground and 13mph up mild hills without new controller and bad batteries.

I have the spm48400 with HD f/r switch, 4gauge cables, 36v. 6 inch steeeng lift /w 23 at tires. I am getting 19/20 mph on flat ground with full charge. If I could do it all over again, I would have bought 8v batteries and 48500 controller

I have the same tires with Darkside rims. Without 1" spacers front left will rub the brake assembly during sharp left turns. No idea what the off set for Darkside 12" rims are.
