Re: Drive Clutch not closing completely
If it's hitting the rev limiter you may need to adjust your governor a bit so it's not pulling the throttle open so far. I've had a couple new clutches that seemed "tight" for the first few weeks of use and the engine would rev pretty high on initial acceleration if you had the pedal on the metal. Never got to the rev limiter on mine, but as the clutches broke in it would not rev quite as much and after a few weeks they were "normal" again. If that makes any sense?

Re: Drive Clutch not closing completely
Problem solved!
Took the new drive clutch apart. Had a couple nicks in the main shaft where the thrust washer rides. It was causing the thrust washer and probably clutch weights to bind and not shift normal. It's very disheartening. They were obvious nicks probably from assembly. Club car quality standards obviously suck from their suppliers. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

Re: Drive Clutch not closing completely
Interesting. Are you sure it was an OEM clutch? I remember reading something here a while back about knock off clutches looking exactly like OEM clutches, except for a marking somewhere that designated it was actually oem. Cant remember where I read that though. Just a shot, but anything is possible.
But glad you got it figured out. Now it's time to go enjoy it! |

Re: Drive Clutch not closing completely
Where did you get the new drive clutch from? I'd probably send it back as defective.

Re: Drive Clutch not closing completely
Good old Ebay. I think its just someone that was selling some new old stock. I got the last one he had. Its all good now. I'm really enjoying the cart now that she's all mechanically sound. The old 290 isn't fast up to speed but it gets there OK.
