Well that’s the problem, even a thin wall socket will not fit on the lug with the cap still in place.

Metal center caps have a lip on the end so you can't pull them out from the outside. Most all plastic center caps can be pull straight out if in a jam from the outside. Is your metal or plastic?

my center caps are plastic and there is no way you can pull them off without removing the tire . it is very tight with a 6 point socket and im up against the center cap
