Mounting speakers under F/R switch
I am contemplating a project while staying home. I think I would like to add a set of rear speakers to my cart (TXT4. I had originally wanted a sound bar but the kids wouldn't tolerate it being so close to their heads. I already have a sub and 2 6.5's mounted in dash pods up front. I was thinking 6.5's, 6x9's or maybe two 8's (prob too deep to fit) under the F/R switch.
My issue is the mounting depth. Quick measurements show I have 2.5 inches before I start hitting the batteries. I know others have mounted larger speakers in that location so I wondered how they dealt with the issue of depth clearance. I know the 6.5's will fit but if I could get a bigger speaker in there I would prefer it. Even if it is free air the extra bass would help fill out my system a bit. Next project is one of the amped Sony head units to replace my crappy low end Kenwood. |
