Need to Speed Upgrade (not an EZGO guy)
Bought this 6 seater golf cart for a very reasonable price and I am looking to get some more torque and hiopefully hit the 20+ mph mark. Right now it does about 12mph.
Ive done some research in the forum and I see Bob does controller upgrades if I send it to him. But what are my options here. I know club cars very well but this is my first purchase of anything other than a CC. Can I easily buy and install a new controller on this? Is that my best option to get speed without a motor upgrade? Any info and insight helps!!! Thanks in advance. |

That's a Curtis 1268 control. An Alltrax upgrade would net about 22 mph assuming good batteries.

Re: Need to Speed Upgrade (not an EZGO guy)
Not me.. Ezgo put out some L6 carts starting in 2012 or so that had the 1268 and a motor that was more suited to 72 volts than 48. An Alltrax might work but not 100%..

Re: Need to Speed Upgrade (not an EZGO guy)
It requires a minimum of 60V, 72V preferred to really perform. 48V will just give you what speed/torque it is already capable of going. I've been able to tweak the maps on those to get an additional 3 MPH, but it is a lot of time and effort for so little gain. You'll need an Alltrax SepEx controller rated for the higher voltage if you want a big performance boost. scottyb should be able to find you what you need or want.
