Battery Charger Inquiry
Battery Charger:
Total Charge III EZGO TEXTRON MODEL #26984 I never let my batteries get lower than 37 volts before charging. I check the water level and connections frequently as well as neutralize the battery compartment. I use this cart every day, except when it’s charging. Most of the time it takes anywhere from 24 to 72 hours to cut off or until I just unplug it. It does charge, but this seems excessive to me, but I’m just an old gal that doesn’t know about these things. I don’t want some local golf cart guy trying to talk me into a new Charger if I don’t need one. I do know they are expensive! My question is…Is there any way to test/check out the Charger? What is the reset button for? You guys always get me out of a bind and have good advice. BTW my batteries are 5 months old now…DO NOT WANT TO RUIN THEM! Thanks in advance. |

Re: Battery Charger Inquiry
Something is not right if it is taking that long unless you are really running them down. Should charge in less than 10 hours when dead. Charger is probably timing out. Do you have one you can borrow to test if it works normally?

Re: Battery Charger Inquiry
Thanks for the reply. Trust me…I do not run them down! Off hand I don’t know anyone around my area(small town, pop. 250) that I could borrow, but I will ask around. Thanks for verifying that it should only take about 10 hours.

2. There is a 50A circuit breaker in the charger's DC output. The red button resets it. ------------ Batteries ought to be charged after each use, or at least put on an overnight charge if cart was used during that day. |

Re: Battery Charger Inquiry
Thanks JohnnieB! I guess what I will have to do is charge my battery pack 10-12 hours and unplug it, check the soc and if it’s reached 38.20v, then I am good to go.

Re: Battery Charger Inquiry
Well something is telling it to charge longer so even if it does get there you still have a problem. Check the voltage on the pack while it charging at different times. At the end of the cycle it should be mid 40s.
