Default Yamaha clutch puller

I found a couple web sites and did some homework. Anyway I found that the clutch puller for a ski do with the TRA,(total range adjustable) has a 14mm-1 pitch roll and is 8 1/2 inch's long and has the correct taper. Plus they sell for $15 - $17. What do you think? Should I try it. My only question is how long is the Yamaha g-16 puller and is the length O.K. ? I can shorten the new one but cant make it grow.lol

8 1/2 long sounds about right but I don't know for sure. Try it!

Measurements of my Yamaha clutch puller:
OAL= 7 7/16
Hex head thickness= 3/8
Threaded portion= 1 9/16
First step= 3 11/16 Dia=.470
Second step= 1 13/16 Dia=.390

With a little modification, that TRA puller should work. Keep in mind that it probably is a Chinese-made tool like many of the Yamaha pullers. We have found the quality of these tools to be spotty- soft metal and poorly formed threads. Given that this tool is about 1/3 the cost of the Yamaha version, I would go for it. Let us know how it works for you.

gmb74 do you have a way to verify the thread size? I need to make one of these for a project i have. I am a machinist so it is not that much of a deal but it would help to have the correct thread to start with! lol

thanks for the help
