Grooves in brushes??
I removed my motor today to go through it to ensure there was nothing out of order and found some pretty deep grooves in the brushes and commmutator. My experience with small electirc motors, such as rc car motors, is that typically you see the brushes smooth and shiny as well as ther commutator shiny.
Should there be grooves like this in the brushes? |

Re: Grooves in brushes??
They dont always run smooth and I have exprienced some grooves.Just sand down the armature a little with maybe some 80 grit emory paper just to clean the black off. Thats about all you can do.

Re: Grooves in brushes??
No, not really just dont break anything putting it back together.Make sure the brushes are out of the way when you slide the armature back in.I am sure you will be ok.
