2006 EZ GO ST 2+2 gas shifting problems
I just finished (well almost) an overhaul of my EZ GO cart. This included installation of a Jake's long travel kit (with additional 1.5" lift in rear), BU posi-traction kit, new driven clutch with heavy duty spring and severe duty belt (thanks to CPP), and other misc. stuff. I'm now having issues shifting into forward on the cart. Reverse seems fine, but sometimes forward works and other times it doesn't engage, but the belt spins. The compression spring inside the rear end detent plug got damaged, due to unrelated issues, after we pulled it out and I replaced it with what appeared to be a like spring. I'm hoping the spring I replaced it with is the issue and not something bigger. Any ideas what size that spring is so I can get a proper replacement? The nearest EZ GO dealer is 100 miles away so I'm hoping I can go to a local hardware store to pick one up.
Also, as an FYI, the Jake's long travel is awesome, but beware, they apparently don't make one stock for the ST cart. I had to have the guys at our shop cut the tie rod sleeves in the middle and reweld to shorten them and also had to cut down the back lift brackets as they were designed for a cart without a factory lift. |
