Preload on Driven Clutch
Newbie here! I set the preload on my driven clutch(99 EZGO gas) maybe lower than the 120 degrees as stated in the tech section. If I am not at the stated 120 but a little less, say 90 to 100 degrees what will I have changed. (torque, speed?)
Thanks in advance Thanks to everyone responsible for this forum. The information found here has been invaluable. Great Job!!!!! |

Re: Preload on Driven Clutch
Well, it seems that there are alot of people here that know about everything about an EZGO gas cart but I guess nobody knows anything about a driven clutch.
Just my luck. The thing I had a question about, NOTHING. |

Re: Preload on Driven Clutch
The problem was it was posted in the EZ go section and no one ever goes there.
Ok I had to say that. The pre wrap does two things. Side tension (belt grip) you may experience slippage and heat build up. Up shift (changing diameter) the drive clutch is always trying to close and pull the belt lower in the driven clutch. The spring and the ramps on the helix fight this, less tension will allow it to open easier and shift sooner. This will cause the engine to lug more and not climb hills or carry weight as well. |
