Front wheel squeaks
Oh it makes me crazy. I can't figure it out. I put it on a jack and spin the tire, it will spin for minutes with no squeak. put it on the ground and move it. squeak squeak squeak.

Re: Front wheel squeaks
Not an expert by any means, but it sounds like the bearings are rolling good. First thing I'd check is the torque on the lug nuts. The wheel might be sliding on the hub to cause the squeek. If that doesn't solve it, I'd question the grease packing in the bearings, but again, I'm second guessing myself on that one, since the wheel spins freely and quietly when not under load.
Hope this helps. |

Re: Front wheel squeaks
does it have aluminum wheels ? I went through the same thing on the left rear. First when installing the new wheels I noticed the center caps did not fit/mount tight and fixed that from the start as I knew that would end up making noise. After a few months the wheel started squeaking and thought it may just be the center cap.
As Free said, I checked my lug nuts and that was the only wheel that the lugs came loose on. That fixed my squeak AND my blood pressure ! |

Re: Front wheel squeaks
check the bushing in the spring,,, when on the ground it may be rubbing the inside of the wheel and in the air it moves so it does not rub. I've had that problem and found this is what it was.

Re: Front wheel squeaks
Thanks guys. I took the tires off last night and switched them. It went away. I think the lug nuts were not tight enough.
Glad it is gone. |
