Questions for G1 owners?

Ok, so I picked up my first cart and I know its a G1 but thats about it. So, I come to the experts for some info. First how do I find out what year the cart is? It also seems that Iam missisng a piece that goes around the steering column kinda looks like a square box. I dont know that mines is sopose to have that,but what I seen from pics I should. Is there any source to get that piece from. Also I know I need a stock front shock if anybody has some to get rid of let me know. I have been searching ebay with no luck.

Thanks for all the help. I think Iam addicted already to this hobby and havent even got it running yet. I am all the time looking and ready as much as I can on here. This is a very nice site.

You can get a shop manual off ebay. Parts list try running search on "Yamaha G1 Part listing or manual PDF" you used to be able to down load off internet very help full. if you can get the part number or the name of the part, then run a internet search.

Post some pictures of the cart and engine compartment, it will help narrow down the model year. Yamaha has a great website that you can view parts books, but not service manuals. You will need to know the year to retreive the exat parts book. www.yamahagolfcar.com click service,click view parts catalogs,clickgolf cars,click year (1979 to 1986) and click g1-a. Thanks, I will post the pics I have,If I need to get better ones I will. Mwar, I looked on king carts but couldnt find g1 dash. Ill look again. Thanks for the help guys!

contact ""Yamaha golf carts of Livermore California""....Talk to James in the bone yard..he has the piece you are looking for , I just bought a front body clip from him last Friday and he had your part in his hand it was headed for a shelf when I as leaving he will ship it and probably only charge you a few bucks..

It's listed as an instrument panel. I've been buying a lot of parts from them and they are fast.
