Default Re: How do you get the shifter off

I had to use a handheld grinder on mine. Just kidding. A pocket screwdriver is always a handy tool. And I've lost and broke more of them than any tool I own.

I made a hook out of coat hanger, probably 30+ yrs ago. Still have it and use it for all those little odd jobs! (Changa's) GM door handles is what it was originally built for!!

Its chased wire through holes, put in wind shields and god knows what else over the years!!

Most of my favorite tools are ground down or bent wrenches. Can't tell you how many I've modded/ruined to meet my immediate need. They get reused at times. The most widely used tools I have are a pocket screwdriver and an old magnetic screwdriver that takes different bits. And a D cell mag light I've had for about 25 yrs.

Don't mean to rattle on, but; being a cabinet maker, I have to have my favorite tools on a job! Can't pick up just any screw driver bit, hammer, or chisel. It has to be my special file or sand paper block etc., so I know what its gonna do when I touch it to my project. I have to be assured of the results I'm gonna get before I start. I'm very cautious about not loosing a tool, hate to have to relearn what a new tool is gonna do.
