7 wire turn signal / flasher question
I am a newby when it comes to carts so I picked up a '91 Marathon that was in rough shape for a song. I stripped it to a bare frame and started from there. Rebuilt engine with new carb, bearings, seals, and complete top end. Body has been professionally refinished, seats recovered, 10" alloy rims, 2.5" custom lift kit, new cowl cap w/lights, LED tail lamps, LED turn signals, Grant leather wrapped wheel. My problem is with the turn signals. I bought an Everlasting 7-wire turn signal switch from my street rod parts supplier. I can get the lights to work properly but not the indicator lamp in the switch. I am using a 3-prong flasher with contacts labeled "+" , "-" and "L". I connect the black wire from the switch to the "L" (load), and then pos and neg to (+) and (-). If I connect the indicator (blue wire) to flasher, the indicator will flash even after the turn signals are cancelled. I started looking at flashers and see there are quite a few variations. I am using an EP35 now. Can anyone suggest a flasher that will work correctly in this application? Maybe one considered an "alternating" or "wig-wag". Thanks in advance for any info!

Re: 7 wire turn signal / flasher question
I will find a copy of a wiring diagram for a flasher and post it here to see if it is the same. Before that, try hooking up a regular (incandescent) light in place of one of the LED turn signals and see if that fixes your problem. LED's are great, but dont offer enough of a load to most flashers. Try that and let us know.
*EDIT* Here is the flasher diagram I have for a 7 wire flasher: |

Re: 7 wire turn signal / flasher question
I have another problem- using the same turn signal kit as above, 7 wires, all signals flash when I signal for either direction. Also, the turn signals do not work at all when the parking or headlites are on. Help???

Quote:
"49" goes to the positive on your battery, make sure to put a fuse between your batt and flasher, "49a"goes to the black and "P" goes the blue, which powers the actual indicator itself. and here is a diagram I found online, good luck ;) |

Re: 7 wire turn signal / flasher question
I have the same problem with my turn signal kit. I have it wired per diagram and when I turn the lighst on, the flasher dosn't work. Futhermore, I am trying to seperate the turn signals using leds, both in front and back. The leds will not flash. Do I need a different flasher. I believe someone recommended fl3(49,49a,p) or something. Please identify the recommended different flasher and where can I purchase. thanks

Re: 7 wire turn signal / flasher question
The black wire is not the neg wire. The blue goes to the neg terminal of the flasher. The black is the "L" of the flasher.
