Re: street legal golf cart
It varies by State, and also each County,Town,Village,etc...Ny does not recognize them, and they can't be registered here, but they can be Insured.I spent an hour on the phone with a really nice guy at DOT,and he could not find a way to make it happen, mainly because NY doesn't recognize the Vin-sequence on carts.Call your State DOT/DMV Office, they will give you the correct info that you will need.Hope this helps.

Yes first find out your state laws regarding carts. Where do you live?

Re: street legal golf cart
For what it's worth...I looked into it in Texas (Travis county) and a friend of mine who is the Police Chief in my town told me if you register it and it comes up in their system as a DOT vehicle you can receive a DUI coming back from the golf course or wherever. If you don't you can't. This may be a local thing, not sure.

Re: street legal golf cart
I'm in Florida. You can do it here and there is a long list of equipment that you must add. The info can be found under "Low speed vehicles." However, the reason I haven't done mine is the cost of insurance. In florida, to carry the state minimum, I would be speeding about $400 or more per year. Why? Because once it's street legal and registered, it's liek any other car.
That's just not worth it for me. Best wishes though! |
