![]() I purchased a heavy duty spring kit for my cart as my new 12" wheels with low profile tires was rubbing on the left rear fender when making a right turn. I installed them in a couple hours and all seemed well. but, i noticed that the cart started leaning to the left after a couple of weeks.
I noticed that the left shackle had "fallen" as you can see on one of the pictures. There is no rubbing but the cart has a noticeable lean. I loosened the bolts, jacked it up and re-tightened to make it stand back up at a 45 degree angle which can also be seen in a picture. This brought the cart back leve. after sitting on it and a short ride, it quickly went back flat. I sent a pic to the local CC dealer and he said it looks like the spring is too long. I sent the pic to the co that sold the springs and they said my shackles were not correct. I have no idea who to believe. It does seem that the shackles on the 13 precedents are not what is on my cart. i attached a pic of the shackle that should be on my cart. I could buy those shackles and put them on this cart but it seems that the narrow end would be too narrow to fit inside the stainless frame. Just looking for some advice!! |

![]() I agree with your dealer. Looks like your springs are too long. The pictures of the shackles on your cart are the original OEM shackles for your year model Precedent. The picture on the right with the Stens watermark is an early Precedent shackle design. Buying them would accomplish nothing. What kind of springs are they? Any part numbers?

![]() Weird bc the club car rep said the shackle I posted is what should be on my car. I bought the HD springs from Steeleng. They say they are correct. I'm just stuck and don't know how to correct the issue.

![]() David is very knowledgeable on Club Cars, according to the IPL manuals, the shackles you have are standard on 2014+ models, but likely used on late production of the 2013 models.
What is your serial number, you must have a late 2013 model. |

![]() Looks to me like your axle is twisting. The front spring should be fixed. The axle should clamp to the spring. The rear shackle moves to allow for the spring to bend. It should not bend that much.

![]() I have requested a replacement from Steeleng but it appears from their site that they are out of stock. Hopefully they will send me a shipping label and reimburse me although it will be a pain. Especially if the new ones i order are also too long.
Any idea what a HD spring should look like where it meets the shackle? small angle, vertical, etc? I dont think they way it currently is is unsafe, but it certainly seems to be incorrect. |

![]() I have the same problem on my lifted precident, left shackle has laid down, right shackle is still on the same angle as the op photo. I jacked up the cart, loosened the shackle, put it on the same angle as the right side, tightened it up as tight as could get and it slid flat in 1 mile. I really don't think the springs are too long as both sides would do it. The leverage put on the shackle on that 45 degree angle would seem to have to make it pivot flat. It seems that the shackle either has to be straight up and down or flat, yet only the drivers side is doing it and yes the lean towards the left side is very noticeable. Not sure what to do

![]() Until I figure out a solution, I just laid down the passenger side also. After doing so it looks like the front is a little higher than the rear. I'm with you, with that 45 degree angle I don't see how it would ever stay, no matter how tight it is. Please keep me posted if you find a solution. I would like to find a fix as it will give the cart an extra inch or two to the rear height.

![]() Can you measure and post the length of your new leaf spring?
I will get you a measurement of my stock and heavy duty spring a little later today. Measure from the center of the bushing holes. Aflyer |
