Default Need to fix my negative caster

So I've been trying to tighten up my steering on this 2000 EZGO lifted cart. Because of the lift, I can't seem to get the correct toe-in (shooting for 0 to 1/8th inch), but I'm close. I drives a little straighter now, but I still have lots of sloppy steering and I still have to fight to keep it straight.

Before I replace the rack kit, I noticed my caster is somewhat negative. Something tells me that's not correct. Am I right?

Anybody know what kind of lift kit this is and the best way to fix my caster?

My cart also is hard to control so I will be following this thread. (1999 ezgo) My next step is also to replace the rack kit but from what I can tell I dont have a lot of slop in the rack. Anyway, my kingpins were badly worn and replacing those helped a lot. My problem isnt solved but it is much better.

Negative Caster will cause it to wander, also the steering will feel heavy, and not return to center on its' own,you will need more effort to recover from a turn.Is it possible to spin the axle 180degrees?You may have it in backwards. When I lifted mine and my Dads' we tweaked the tips of the front springs upwards to give it more Positive-Caster.This is especially common with Block-lifts.The loose steering will definitely add to your handling issues too.Hope this helps.

Here's another picture of the front lift. The steering just uses one tie rod that is welded to a tab on the single rod that connects the knuckles. It doesn't allow much fine tuning in the toe adjustment because that welded tab always has to be straight up.

Anybody know how much positive caster there should be?
I'm assuming there's no adjustment for that, and I'll have to get my front leaf springs reshaped somehow. ..?
What's the best way to confirm I have too much wear in the rack teeth without pulling it apart?

I run about 2-4degrees positive caster, works good.Reshaping the springs requires a press, but I would rather you pm me and I'll give you my number to call me.If you just start bending them, you'll likely end up with junk springs.I work for a spring-shop,I know how to do it properly. If the rack has slop, see if there is an adjuster-bolt on it.If so,make sure the steering is centered, then turn it in about 1/8-turn.recheck steering. If still loose, repeat until it has minimal play, but no bind.Hope this helps.

The long rod that connects the spindles, how does the ends look? Do they screw in and out like normal tie rods?

Yes. I can adjust the toe in, but only by rotating one full rotation at a time, so that the welded bracket sticks straight up. It's the only way the tie rod from the pitman arm clears the front spring.

I think what I'll do for the caster problem is just find a local spring shop in Phoenix and have them fix those leaf ends to give me 2-5 degrees. Should be doable right? What do you suppose that will cost me?
