You mean quadruple check compression? Timing belt tensioner allowing slack during load?

Haha, no not if your sure. The belt has teeth so not sure that's it. Have you gone through and studied both the service guide and the engine rebuild manual?

Crap. I hadn't even thought about a bum cam lobe until just now... This has been an ongoing head scratcher for about 6 months. I'm just waiting for someone that'll pop up that's had the exact same problem that'll come through with the old " hey stupid, did you check the..."

I did observe a significantly lower exhaust temp on one cylinder

Adjustment is fine. I would be much more interested in measuring cam lift at this point.

That's what I meant. Get back into the top of the engine and rule all that out. Have you studied over both manuals thoroughly?
