G2 Governor Arm Question
Quick question for the G2/G9 experts.
When I got my G2 I tightened the 10mm nut on the governor all the way and got a nice increase in speed. After a few months I found the thread about flipping the governor spring, which I have done and got another mph or so out of it. I have been curious about "drilling out the governor arm", however I can't seem to find any pictures that shows me exactly how to accomplish this... Can someone either explain to me exactly what I drill out, or point me in the right direction? I see down towards the bottom of the governor arm where it attaches to the shaft going into the transmission a Phillips head screw with a nut on it that clamps the governor arm onto the shaft, but I'm not certain if that is something I can just loosen or remove, or will that let the shaft fall into the transmission. If there is no point in doing this considering I have already flipped the spring, please let me know. Thanks in advance! |

Re: G2 Governor Arm Question
Loosen the nut and remove the arm. Drill out the flat sided hole and plastic washers. 25/32" drill, think. The arm should now turn freely on the shaft.
G2 has a rev limiter built in, which may come into play... |

Re: G2 Governor Arm Question
Hey Dave,
Thanks for the info. I used to bounce off the Rev Limiter before I did my Plowman's performance kit. I have not hit the limiter since, so I was curious if the Overdrive from the Plowman's overdrive primary clutch was causing the governor to kick in before my rev limiter. I typically cruise around at 15-17mph, but it would be nice to be able to get a few more mph out of my cart every once in a while. The governor shaft won't drop into the transmission when I remove the arm to drill, will it? |
