Check out my attached diagram - the power from the key when it is switched on goes to the relay and on to the -48V. This switches the relay which closes the large contacts and allows current to flow to the reducer from the battery pack (the relay is just a switch in the +48V line).

Your picture should look as it is here.

The cold side of the switch has power when the key is on (the other side has power all the time). I can't remember the wire colour.

The -48V from the reducer goes to the B- connection near the batteries.

Your fuse block is wired with the +12V and -12V which come from the output of the reducer.

Let me know if any of that is confusing and I'll try to make it clearer.
Got it all wired up and working. The cold side of the ignition switch is the light blue wire.

Well done.

That must have been satisfying!

I should add, for others who are reading this thread, that the relay is only necessary if you have a 4-wire reducer and want it to turn on and off with the key.

If you buy a 5-wire reducer it basically has the function of the relay built-in. The 5th wire (the trigger wire) is connected to the cold side of the key switch and turns the reducer on and off.

By buying a 5-wire reducer you will save the cost of the relay and the hassle of wiring it in. Get a good one from one of the site sponsors.

Excuse the wire mess. Some of it I could clean up but I have the cord to my battery maintainer and the wiring for my spray rig all piled up under there.
You can see that there is room to mount the reducer, fuse box and ground buss where I have it.

How did you mount the reducer to the plastic?

My Precedent had a spot on the front of the steering assembly with predrilled holes that were perfectly spaced for the mounting holes of the voltage reducer.

Can you share a picture of the wiring from your key switch to the 5th wire that is supplied by the voltage reducer?
