1991 EZGO wiring and battery problems
guys I have a 1991 ezgo electric cart.
The wiring is a mess and batteries seem to endlessly bubble - charger never stops The battery top wires are all different guages and tyoes (single strand/multi) what is best to use and types of tips? also the cart goes faster backward than forward. Ideas? The cart goes very slow up the hill? the batteries held a charge and now just bubble endlessly charging endlessly thanks for the help |

(1) If you have good connections between batteries and the charger port then endless charging is a sign of bad batteries. Test them with a voltmeter, an Hydrometer, and a load tester.... to be sure. (2) #6 cable is stock, #4 is good for anything under 500a and #2 will work over 500a (3) Soldered copper ends are good, everybody has different opinions on this (4)Lower reverse gearing = a quicker start. Most noticeable on weak carts = (bad batteries) (5) Yeh, they all do especially the ones with bad batteries (6) See # 1 (7) Glad we could help WELCOME TO BGW !!!! |

Re: 1991 EZGO wiring and battery problems
The cart is designed to go 1/2 speed in reverse when a micro switch on the FNR is activated. Sounds like you may have a wiring problem there also. You need to go to the stickies and find your correct wiring diagram and check each wire in your system.
I'd start out with checking the batteries first with the voltmeter and SG as scottyb suggested. If the batteries are bad and you are willing to pay $700 plus to get your cart running then we can go from there. Good luck and welcome to BGW |

#6 or #4 welding cable is the best for your wiring needs based soley on the size of your controller as Scotty has already mentioned. |
