Would like to disable the microswitch and make my 83 Marathon idle. Few questions.

I don't really have a specific reason, but I'd prefer my cart to idle rather than having to restart it every time I want to go. I know its a safety feature and that I probably shouldn't change anything, but I'm still curious.

I've searched and read some other threads on the subject, and from what I gather the biggest issues with doing this are:

1) The need for a different clutch spring so that the clutch doesn't engage so quickly.

and

2) I read that the idle speed would need to be higher so that the starter doesn't run continuously.

My question is this.. Would it be possible to wire up a simple kill switch for the starter so that it would no longer run at low rpms once the cart is running? This would allow for a lower idle setting, which in turn might eliminate the need for the stronger clutch spring. No? Or is it impossible to disable the starter with a switch without also disabling the generator?

Are their any other issues I should consider before attempting to make it idle?

Either way, I'd like to tinker with it this weekend, so can someone please tell me exactly where this microswitch is (under the cart or in the engine compartment) and which wire I'd need to disconnect? Also, if anyone knows where I'd need to put the switch on to disable the starter, that would be helpful too.

To make it idle is simple. The micro switch is open when the peddle is not pushed and closed when running so if you connect the two wires going to the switch together and adjust the idle set screw at the carb. above the starter speed it will idle . There are consequences in doing this such as engine backfire. Also when braking the engine helps to slow the cart that wont happen when engine is running. I installed a switch on mine so I have the option to idle or not. If you have the switch on when coasting the spark is still on so when you get back on the peddle you won't have gas buildup and backfire. Also when changing from forward to reverse you want to completely stop the engine.

Hardatwork, I installed a manual switch like yours, so that I can switch from having it idle or not. Works great! Nice idea!
