G29 Year ID info

Looking at some newer G29 Electric The Drive Carts, how can I tell what year they are and where is the ID information located .

If i remember correctly, tilt your seat up and below it towards the back of the battery compartment there will be a white sticker with all the information. It is located on the area that the seat sits on towards the drivers side.

Will it be in code or a serial # or just have the year manufactured. I am JUST starting to look at Yamaha carts and know very little. I know on Club Cars it is the first 2 numbers after the letter in the serial number, but I know nothing about Yamaha's.

This is not always correct (body swap?), but if you look at the sticker at the back of the seat, on the Body, not the frame. "Date of mfg. 2009", 2009+1, Yamaha would call it a 2010. Generally, the SN sticker under the seat will not decieve, it cant be changed by swapping the body.

The SN is coded for years. Heres an example (cart build sequence numbers will be represented by "xxxxx")

JW1-0xxxxx = 2007 model gas drive, first year
JW1-1xxxxx = 2008
JW1-2xxxxx = 2009
JW1-3xxxxx = 2010
JC0-0xxxxx = 2011

There will always be 6 numbers and no letters after the "first 3" prefix on a serial number.

Prefix (in this example "JW1", gas) indicates model, JW2 = drive electric. Later models changed to JC0 gas, JC1 electric.


The problem is you must know the first year your model was available to decode this way, if you are going to be dealing with some yamahas, go to yamahas website and print out a "cheat sheet".

The fourth DIGIT will help you to find year. IF you are seeing a fourth digit as any letter A-Z (example "JW1-G6300-00", Rear Axle) , it is NOT a serial number, but a part number to replace the sticker or part you are looking at. But not all part numbers have a letter at position #4 (some part numbers have no letters At All! Only numbers)

Yamahas website has a page for decoding all serial numbers, all models, all years , and SN locations, back to the G1. Available to the public in the "Service & Parts" section.

There are a few rare exceptions found on the yamaha id number sheet, but this info will help a little to understand serial numbers and part numbers on yamahas.
