81 marathon. Grinding sound from rear end.
Ive got a strange grinding sound coming from the rear of the cart when in motion. There is also a minor vibration associated with this sound. Does not seem to vibrate or make the grinding noise as bad when I jack up the back of the cart to test. Axle bearings?? Any help would be appreciated.

Check drums and axle shafts seems to be most common problem.

Re: 81 marathon. Grinding sound from rear end.
Probably shaft or rear end bearings shot and that is why it does't sound as bad when no weight is on the axle. Should be able to hear it when lifted off rear tires and you turn the wheels. Make sure you have lube in rear end also.
Take the belt off so you can move wheels faster to locate sound. |
