If it's truly a V-glide (a pie shaped deal on the left frame rail under the driver's butt) then some emery cloth to shine up the contacts and the wiper contact will do wonders, and some electronics cleaner or brake cleaner (don't laugh, I've used it for years on 'em) will remove the remaining residue. Follow up with canned air, or garden variety compressed air from your air compressor. V-glides are tough little suckers.
