Default Axle Assembly - Bearing Replacement

I'm replacing the Axle Assembly and bearing ( Lots of stripped hubs over the years have killed the Axle ) on a 2008 TXT PDS. I have pulled the axle while i wait for a replacement to show up. Having not done this before I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this the correct placement of the bearing.

( this is the old axle )

Thanks!

I haven't done it either but I asume the bearing runs on that Shiney surface to the feet of where it is resting right now? But maybe a seal or something rides on that Shiney spot?

That is the right placement when you slide the bearing on to the shaft and press it into place it will seat up to the shoulder on the shaft. The shiny looking area is where the bearing seal would be.

Thanks for the info! I have heard you can press the bearing to far onto the axle so that's why I was asking. I have a problem with over tightening things :-x so ill make sure to only give it a few smacks to seat the bearing.

Thanks again!

CG- I don't have a bearing press, would this method work? " Place the axle in a vice so the bearing surface is above the jaws, tighten the vice. Put a light coat of oil on the bearing surface " inner race " , Place the new bearing on the axle , place the old bearing on top of it. Slide a 3/4 pipe down on top of the axle and tap it with a hammer until the bearing reaches the seat area "
