Default Weak Spark

i have a 89 ez go 2cycle and i have a weak spark . should i consider a new coil or am i looking at a bad ignitor?? any help much appreciated

Start with the simplest things first. Check you spark plug wire. Is it a carbon wire or steel? Carbon wires a notorious at going bad at the ends. Check you connections to make sure everything is making a good connection. Go from there.

it is a steel core plug wire but im sure it could be in better shape but i will double check it again thank you for your reply

On the cart I got I found someone put on an automotive connector that would go into a distributor. I found on mine that the wire screws down into the coil. Let me know what you find.

i changed the coil out with a automotive coil and bingo great spark.it starts but wont stay running but i need throttle and governor parts to finish the build and then ill be able to go on from there just taking forever to locate parts
