Default rear shocks

I have an 08 yamaha drive (gas) with a 6" long travel lift. I was wondering if any one has tried different rear shocks, maybe longer shocks. I have the heavy springs on it now and the rear end rides way to rough. I would like to try the stock springs but do not have them. Any info would be great or if some one has stock springs I would be interested in buying them.
Thanks Tony

I went from a 11 inch shock to a 16 inch coil over. They are adjustable shocks off a donor rhino. Front IFS is smooth rear is rough as a cob. I rode in a Honda Big Red this weekend and talk about smooth with the rear independant suspension. straight shaft rears are going to be rough. I'm going to play around with some different shocks in the future.

My air ride is super smooth. Maybe you could build a link suspension for the rear with air shocks?

What air shocks are you using? Make and model. This seems like a great ideal

My set up for the rear is a bit different. I built an air ride system for Volkswagen independent rear suspension. The bag-over-shocks I am using for the front would work well for the rear of your cart (I think). The big drawback is that they are pricey and you need to have some decent fabrication skills to build mounts for them as well as the link suspension system. I have attached pics of my bag-over-shocks (Ridetech 7000 series Black)

I think some of the on-road crowd on here have run air shocks that can simply bolt in. You just need to use the factory shocks as a reference for mounting style, extended length, and compressed length. It may be possible to utilize the leaf spring packs you have by removing some of the leaves in the pack and using them in conjunction with the air shocks. By removing some of the leaves in the pack it reduces the spring rate, and you would not have to build a custom link suspension system. You could tune your spring rate to your liking by adjusting the pressure in the air shocks.

I know I'm just throwing ideas out there lol. Good luck with your build!

If you want air shocks , you might look at Harley air shocks. They are pretty reasonable .

I ended up making a new lift bracket for the rear and put yfz 450 shocks on it. They ride great but i hand to tighten the springs down all the way.
